As a Leader, what does it take?
I’ve held a few leadership roles. From those experiences, I’ve known that being a leader is not like sitting on a couch. You need to be the first to take the initiative to solve a problem, solve a issue between your group or maybe even cheer them on.
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of a tug-of-war battle. And the scenario with a leader.
If you haven’t, here’s what it is. So, one side the leader is pulling the rope with the team and cheering them on. While on the other side, the leader is standing by the side ‘commanding’ the team. Which side will win?
And a second scenario is a race. However, this race, you have to pull a weight as you move(the whole team pulls). One team the leader is standing by the side but he is cheering them on while the other team the leader is pulling the weight with the whole team. Who will win?
If you thought that the team that the leader was helping (pulling the rope in tug-of-war scene and pulling the weights in the race scene) would have a higher change of winning.
From these scenario, you know that as a leader you have to be part of the fight.
